Rakshabandhan by Nishtha Shrivastava.

The Blurb:

“Rakshabandhan is a two-way clear crystal, where a brother named handset stains the beauty of this relationship, little gourav who couldn't even speak was the energy source for Nisha”. Rakshabandhan is a critic of the artificial social frames and sketches the dark reality that changed the life of a little girl Nisha. Rakshabandhan is the most sacred and valued bond between two individuals of the opposite gender and the expectations that are framed from one another are enormous. This story unfolds the battle of a little one from the modern tantrums of a couple, their hardships of being together, and the ignorance that a child faces due to the differences between her parents. The expectations that she keeps from a cousin's brother and the shivering end that brings peace to everybody else’s life and leaves her in a never-ending pain.

The Story:

The book starts with a heartbreaking separation of 17 years of marriage, even though it was the father's choice for having an extramarital affair, and mothers decision to ask Nisha to follow her father to clear the doubt, that ended up being true, but at the end, it was made it seem like it was all Nisha's fault has it was her who support her mother and confirm her father's affair. Is it fair to blame 16 years old girl for their parent's separation?

Later the story continues with Nisha learning all the household chores that her father used to do and balancing her studies and compromising on her hobbies, she did her best to support her mother and 2-year-old brother. And on the last day of the school just before the Pre-board exam, her mother informs her that they will not be returning from Allahabad but only for her to give exams. So in 2 days, Nisha has to say her goodbye to her friends and leave behind the city she loves. So what will happen next? How strong is the brother and sister bond?

My Take:

Ever wonder what a child goes through if their parent suddenly separates? Is it easy to get separated after 17 years of marriage? Is it easy to pick a side a mother or father's even if we don't know the difference between right and wrong?

Rakshabandhan is the debut novel written by the author Nishtha Shrivastava and this story will take you on an emotional journey of Nisha and her pains.

While reading the book, I felt all the emotions and pain that the author Nishtha Shrivastava has described, she has done impressive work because all the emotions were written expressively keeping in mind the delicateness of the moments.

The highlight of the book is the emotions expressed and the writing style of the author which was easy to read and easy to relate to. The character's development from the first chapter to the last, the growth as the storyline moves ahead is done amazingly. The description of the bonds and relationship is accurately written making it feel like a true story.

Even though its the debut novel of the author, while reading it seemed like, Nishtha Shrivastava is a professional writer as she knew exactly how to describe the things and it's her 4th or 5th book after having a writing experience, but nope. It's her first book and she is a talented and professional writer.

Overall a perfect blend of emotions and storyline. A highly recommended book. So if you want to know what happened next, then click here and read now the book Rakshabandhan the debut novel written by the author Nishtha Shrivastava.
