Author's Interview with Vicky Nolan

First, before we move forward with our Authors Interview, I would like to start with an introduction.

1. Could you please introduce yourself to us?
I'm a Singer-Songwriter from the UK and I have written a book called Scrapbook of an Unfound Songstress. My biggest passion is being a Mother to my son Freddie who is 9 months old.
2. Congratulations on your book. So what inspired you to write this book?
It was actually my Dad who had the idea of sharing my story - I spent many years writing and recording demos and I wanted to share the stories that shaped the songs. It was a collaborative process where we wrote down all of the funny and poignant things that happened to me and then we worked on to develop the timeline and how we wanted to present the story as a whole. I've always loved writing; both creative writing and lyrics but I never envisaged writing my own book - it's been a real learning curve.
3. What is the book all about?
Scrapbook of an Unfound Songstress is a collection of stories documenting my experiences as an aspiring singer and all of the ups and downs I have encountered along the way. It's my story told in the first person and is annotated with lyrics and personal anecdotes. I wanted to show that you can be your own success story regardless of what you do or what you achieve. I believe we all have the power to define what it means to be successful.
4. Why did you choose this genre for your book?
I'm very young to be writing a memoir so I wanted to keep the book light-hearted and positive. I still shared raw moments and my vulnerability but ultimately, I wanted it to be a fun and interesting read that all ages could enjoy.
5. How much time did it take to complete this book?
I had so many ideas that it took a year or two to write and develop the story. I'm planning on releasing a series of books as there's still so much to share!
6. What makes your Book Special?
The book is unique in its formation and gives an honest look into the music industry, family relationships and self-discovery. I feel like there's a lot of pressure these days to 'have it all' and I wanted to show that this doesn't always make you happy.
7. When is your second book coming?
I'm currently recording an audiobook version of Scrapbook of an Unfound Songstress which will be available very soon!
8. While writing did you get any writers block? What is the Tip that you will give others who are facing a writer's block?
I've definitely had moments of writer's block - I think it's important not to force anything. I think the best thing to do when you have writer's block is to take a break; do things that you enjoy and you'll soon find inspiration.
9. Apart from being a talented author, what are your other hobbies?
I really enjoy listening to interesting people chat on podcasts and YouTube. I also love listening to different types of music and going for long walks.
10. Last but not the least, How did you feel, while giving this interview?
This interview has been great! I've enjoyed answering these questions whilst my baby has his afternoon nap!
