Author's Interview With Jerry R Giuliano.

Author's Interview With Jerry R Giuliano.
First, before we move forward with our Author's Interview, I would like to start with an introduction.

1. Could you please introduce yourself to us?

Yes. First, and most importantly, I am a husband, father of four, grandfather of fourteen, and great grandfather of twenty-one. I am happy to be among them anywhere, anytime.

2. Congratulations on your book. So what inspired you to write this book?

Thank you. The last of five children, born of Italian immigrants who came to America for a better life in the early 1920 S, I was always inspired by the stories of my family and friends in our predominantly Italian neighborhood. Their stories are of leaving their Homeland to become strangers in a new land having to learn a new language, overcome prejudices and survive through the Great Depression and World War Two. Achieving that taught generations of their offspring the values of hard work, determination, hope, faith and love. That was my inspiration.

3. What is the book all about?

It’s about two children born on opposite sides of the same valley in Southern Italy in 1923. The boy is the son of a sharecropper and the girl an orphan. They meet on a boat to “Filadelphia” when they were ten. They were separated in Philadelphia, where she stayed with well educated, affluent, adoptive parents, while he moved into a suburban, blue-collar town. By chance, they meet again when they're sixteen. The story is about their journey to find themselves, and each other and the grit and determination it took to do so.

4. Why did you choose this genre for your book?

It seemed most adequate.

5. How much time did it take to complete this book?

Three and a half years from first thought to published release date.

6. What makes your Book Special?

Because it's based on truth, and it’s message of kindness and love is simple, but important— especially now.

7. When is your second book coming?

I'm in the, toying with the idea of a sequel, stage. So, at this point, I don't know.

8. While writing did you get any writer's block? What is the Tip that you will give others who are facing writer's block?

No deadline was a bigger reason for the length of time it took to write, than writer's block. If I were qualified to offer a tip, it would be to know your characters, even imaginary ones, well enough to chat with them.

9. What are your other hobbies besides being a talented author?

I don't know about the talented author part, but besides trying to stay attuned to my army of family, I enjoy cooking—I’m pretty good at it. I like learning just about anything, and being outdoors. Nowadays, philosophy is more interesting, but reading and writing are high on my pleasure list.

10. Last but not the least, How did you feel, while giving this interview?

I felt comfortable. Connected. And, hopefully, able to connect with others out there to share a smile.
