Author's Interview with Kim Cresswell.
First, before we move forward with our Author's Interview, I would like to start with an introduction.
1. Could you please introduce yourself to us?
Hello from Ontario, Canada! I'm Kim Cresswell, the award-winning author of the action-packed Whitney Steel romantic suspense series. As a multi-genre author (thrillers, romantic suspense, post-apocalyptic, and true crime), my books have been featured online at USA Today, NBC, FOX, Publishers Weekly, Booklife, and ScifiPulse.net. The Assassin Chronicles TV series was in development with Council Tree Productions. The TV series is based on my paranormal thriller, Deadly Shadow, and the highly anticipated sequel, Invisible Truth (coming soon!).

2. Congratulations on your book. So what inspired you to write this book?
Thank you! I really enjoyed writing All the Bad Girls. My inspiration for writing this book stemmed from a desire to create a psychologically intriguing thriller that delves deeply into themes of duty, trust, and betrayal. I've always been fascinated by the darker aspects of the human psyche and the complexities of balancing a career with personal life—especially when both worlds collide in a traumatic way. All the Bad Girls explores how well we truly know the people closest to us and how fragile trust can become in the face of shocking evidence.
3. What is the book all about?
They’ve been murdered, their bodies bound to wooden crosses and left floating in a lake. They aren’t the only ones...
After three female bodies are discovered in a Traverse, Michigan lake, FBI Special Agent Lexi Stone and her partner are called in to assist with the investigation.
When another body surfaces, Lexi’s fiancĂ©, Adam Quinn, a reporter with the Traverse Record becomes the prime suspect. Refusing to believe the man she plans to marry is a serial killer, Lexi is determined to prove it.
As she feverishly works to try to clear his name, Lexi inches closer to uncovering a deranged psychopath and one shocking twist changes everything.
What she doesn’t know…
The killer is closer than she thinks.
All the Bad Girls is a gripping crime thriller introducing FBI Special Agent Lexi Stone. Fans of Karin Slaughter and Lisa Gardner will love this pulse-pounding suspense with a shocking twist.
4. Why did you choose this genre for your book?
I chose this genre for this particular story because of my passion for pushing the limits of human emotions under pressure and creating suspense that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Thrillers offer a unique opportunity to delve into the darker aspects of the human psyche, where secrets, danger, and unexpected twists are woven into the fabric of the narrative. Writing in this genre allows me to challenge both my characters and readers with moral dilemmas and high-stakes situations, all while crafting stories that keep people eagerly turning the pages, breathless to see what happens next.
5. How much time did it take to complete this book?
All the Bad Girls took me about four months to complete.
6. What makes your Book Special?
What makes All the Bad Girls special is the relationship between Lexi and her fiancé, which adds an extra layer of tension. The love between them is deeply felt, making Lexi's struggle between her professional duty and personal loyalty all the more gripping. This emotional conflict resonates throughout the story, and the possibility that the person she loves could be a monster adds a chilling dimension.
7. When is your second book coming?
I’d love to write more Lexi Stone thrillers when time permits. Currently, I’m working on Invisible Truth, the highly anticipated sequel to Deadly Shadow (the second book in The Assassin Chronicles). After that, I’ll be returning to the fourth Whitney Steel novel.
8. While writing did you get any writer's block? What is the Tip that you will give others who are facing writer's block?
I've only had writer's block once and that was during the pandemic. A great tip for overcoming writer's block is to change your environment. Sometimes a new setting or a different perspective can help stimulate creativity. Whether it’s moving to a new room, taking a walk outside, or even just rearranging your workspace, a change in your surroundings can refresh your mind and spark new ideas. I also went back to writing in a notebook instead of on my laptop. Writing in a different genre is very helpful as well.
9. What are your other hobbies besides being a talented author?
I enjoy designing book covers, reading, volunteering in my community, and spending time with my two children and three grandsons.
10. Last but not the least, How did you feel, while giving this interview?
