Author's Interview with Sarah J. Nachin
First, before we move forward with our Author's Interview, I would like to start with an introduction.
1. Could you please introduce yourself to us?
My name is Sarah J.Nachin. My passion is writing. I've published three books and co-authored a fourth book that was published under my co-author's name. You can find my books on Amazon and on Good Reads. My other interests are traveling and photography, which I often combine with my writing. My latest venture is publishing. I started Chamber Court Publishing because I wanted to help other writers publish professiobal-quality books at an affordable price. I can take a writer from the very first steps of writing to the finished product with my package deal or you can purchase just the services you need, whether it's editing, cover design, formatting or any other aspect of publishing a book.
2. Congratulations on your book. So what inspired you to write this book?
The idea for the book came strictly from my imagination. I actually came up with the title first and then built the story around it.
3. What is the book all about?
" The Ghost of Sarey Jane" is a 20th Century Romeo and Juliet tale with a touch of Macbeth and To Kill a Mockingbird. It's the bittersweet story of a forbidden love between two young peopke - Sarey Jane Munroe and Billy Puckett -who come from families that have been feuding for more than fifty years. Their decision to run away together sets in motion a string of consequences that resounds for generations to come.
4. Why did you choose this genre for your book?
I chose this genre (Southern Gothic) because I've read several books in this genre, such as "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" that I've really enjoyed. Plus, I've lived in the southern United States most of my life and visited Appalachia several times and I'm fascinated by the culture of that place and time (the early 1900s).
5. How much time did it take to complete this book?
It took me a little over two years, partly because I was doing freelance writing and speaking at the same time. Also, I did a lot of resaearch for the book because I wanted to make sure that I was depicting that era correctly. I also did at least 15 revisions to make sure it was as close to perfect as possible.
6. What makes your Book Special?
I feel my book is special because the theme is timeless and the characters are multi-dimensional. Also, the dialogue, characterization and plot are believable.
7. When is your second book coming?
I plan to have a prequel to this book out by the end of 2024.
8. While writing did you get any writer's block? What is the Tip that you will give others who are facing writer's block?
Believe it or not I didn't have writer's block with this book, but I did have writer's block when I was co-authoring the book "The Long Journey" with my partner, Felicia McCranie. The way I got over it was by getting together with other writers so that they could encourage me and I could bounce ideas off of them. My partner also motivated me by asking me quite often, "When is the book going to be finished?" I didn't want to disappoint her, so that kept me going.
9. What are your other hobbies besides being a talented author?
My other pastimes are traveling; photography and videography; going to cultural events, such as plays and concerts; visiting museums and historical sites; and volunteering for various causes and organizations.
10. Last but not the least, How did you feel, while giving this interview?
I was pleased by your interest and for giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts. I hope I can inspire other writers and prospective writers.
