Author's Interview with Sabyasachi Mishra.
Before we dive into our exciting conversation with today’s remarkable author, let’s start by getting to know the creative mind behind the diverse and captivating stories.
1. Could you please introduce yourself to us?
I am a Management Consultant (to pay my bills) and a Writer. I love observing human nature and its failings. I enjoy travelling across the length and breadth of India to soak in the culture & its nuances. I am much enamored with cinema and cannot resist a good story. Music appeals to my senses a great deal too. I am mesmerized by what is called by humans as the "wild life". To sum up I am person who is on a constant quest called life.
2. Congratulations on your book! What inspired you to write it?
The overwhelming experiences up to that time needed an expression desperately. Penning down the story was akin to the safety valve of a pressure cooker.
3. What is your book about?
Its about innocence lost, its about social metamorphosis, its about the temporary success of illogicality and the gradual onset of realization.
4. Why did you choose this genre for your book?
I didn't choose the genre, it chose me. I wasn't a professional writer then and not even now to be able to choose and write. I write what I feel needs to be written.
5. How long did it take you to complete the book?
About three weeks.
6. What makes your book special?
The truth, I guess. I had written the book with my newly re-discovered honesty and I have tried to maintain my integrity though the pages.
7. When can we expect your next book?
As soon as I can gather the financial means to publish it. The manuscript is ready.
8. Did you experience writer’s block while writing? What advice would you give to others who face it?
No. I did not. As mentioned before, I wrote it in three weeks. The words were gushing out at a rate which were not ready to accommodate fanciful breaks such as "writer's block".
9. Besides being a talented author, what are your other hobbies?
I do not have hobbies. I come from a lower middle class family. My socio-economic positioning only allowed for serious pursuits so I developed passions. Human psychology, sociology, the animal world are my primary passions. What I do for a living should only be construed as manifestations of these passions in some form or the other.
10. Last but not least, how did you feel during this interview?
I felt very interested about my own self. I needed to be honest, once again. And I do hope hope my interviewer appreciates my rather eccentric candidness.
