Author's Interview with Mohammed Amir Husain

Before we dive into our exciting conversation with today’s remarkable author, let’s start by getting to know the creative mind behind the diverse and captivating stories.

1. Could you please introduce yourself to us?

By training, I’m a neuroscientist, someone who studies the mysteries of the brain, the organ of memory, identity, and change. In science, I explore how the mind adapts and rebuilds itself after challenge and loss. In writing, I explore those same themes through myth and imagination. The Phoenix Prince became the bridge between the two, the resilience of the human spirit told through the language of flame and legend.

2. Congratulations on your book! What inspired you to write it?

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been drawn to stories about transformation, how something can end, only to begin again in a new form. That fascination became the spark behind my debut fantasy novel, The Phoenix Prince: Age of Fire, the first book in The Phoenix Prince trilogy. I found inspiration from the worlds of anime, manga, and epic fantasy.

3. What is your book about?

The novella follows a young prince Kael, a scholar who would rather read about legends than live them. But when his kingdom is shattered, he discovers he is the vessel of the mythical Phoenix, a power of creation and destruction. Betrayed, hunted, and forced into exile, he must unite with a mysterious assassin to reclaim his throne and confront his destiny. Along the way, he forges unbreakable bonds of trust, loyalty, and love with his companions, Lira and Arion.

The idea struck one quiet evening as I sketched a phoenix, wings spread wide between destruction and creation. That image captured something deeply human: our capacity to rebuild. From that single spark grew Atheria, a world of sacred flames, fading gods, and heroes who must confront the fires within themselves.

4. Why did you choose this genre for your book?

I chose fantasy because it’s the genre that made me fall in love with reading. The idea of creating my own world, my own magic, creatures, and history, felt like the most powerful way to tell this story. The Phoenix Prince: Age of Fire needed a world where anything was possible, and fantasy gave me the freedom to build it

5. How long did it take you to complete the book?

Between my research work, I spent five years crafting this tale of courage, destiny, and the fire that lives within us all.

6. What makes your book special?

Writing The Phoenix Prince: Age of Fire was both an artistic and emotional experiment. Like science, it involved trial and error, long nights, and flashes of discovery that reignited my faith in storytelling. Each chapter tested not just my creativity, but my endurance, reminding me that creation, whether in a lab or on a blank page, begins with curiosity and courage.

Beneath its fantasy surface, the book speaks to something universal: the hope that even after everything burns, something beautiful can rise again.

7. When can we expect your next book?

Next year around July. The Phoenix Prince: Age of Dawn, When Gods Remember They Are Mortal

When I wrote Age of Fire, it was about rebirth, he courage to rise again after everything burns. Age of Dawn will asks a harder question: what happens after we’ve been reborn?

8. Did you experience writer’s block while writing? What advice would you give to others who face it?

Yes, I definitely experienced writer’s block while writing this book. Sometimes it wasn’t that I didn’t know what to write, just that I wasn’t sure how to write it. What helped me was stepping back and reconnecting with why the story mattered. My advice is: don’t force yourself to be perfect. Write something messy, something small. Momentum is more important than perfection

9. Besides being a talented author, what are your other hobbies?

As I mentioned, I’m a neuroscientist by profession. Outside of work, I enjoy playing soccer, hiking, watching anime, and reading manga and novels

10. Last but not least, how did you feel during this interview?

I really enjoyed this interview. The questions made me reflect on my journey as a writer, and I’m grateful for the chance to share a bit of myself and my story.
