Author's Interview with Emily Leung.

Before we dive into our exciting conversation with today’s remarkable author, let’s start by getting to know the creative mind behind the diverse and captivating stories.

1. Could you please introduce yourself to us?

My name is Emily and I am the author of Flight KA1530. I used to be a flight attendant, but writing has always been my first love. I currently live in the U.K. Flight KA1530 was my first formal published work.

2. Congratulations on your book! What inspired you to write it?

My time as a flight attendant was the main source that inspired me. I began writing the book between flights and during layovers throughout my first year in London. Eventually, after I resigned, I took about 3 months working at a part time to finish it.

3. What is your book about?

The book is about Beatriz who returns to the London aviation scene after the pandemic. She is experiencing pressure from the new job and the loss of old friendship, navigating her way while witnessing these supernatural eerie things that seem to just happen to her.

4. Why did you choose this genre for your book?

I have been a big fan of Stephen King since I was 18. I have always enjoyed how Carrie impacted me. I enjoy exploring horror that happens to every day working class people.

5. How long did it take you to complete the book?

I started at 25, about a couple of months after moving to the U.K. Then I rewrite the story over and over. The first draft was completed in 2023, but it was rejected many times. I rewrote it in 2024 again and after plenty of encouragement from friends and family, I put the book forward in 2025.

6. What makes your book special?

The fictional documents and the suspense. I took a long-time crafting how to layer the story and build the suspense. It blurs the line between the main character's deteriorating mental health condition and the supernatural phenomena she is dealing with. I believe it resonates with many people in the aviation and safety industry.

7. When can we expect your next book?

The end of this year hopefully. I have some short stories available on amazon as well.

8. Did you experience writer’s block while writing? What advice would you give to others who face it?

I didn't experience any writer's block. On the contrary, I had too much I wanted to put into the story. It was difficult to flush out all of the ideas within the constrain. I would advise rewriting. When I get to a plot point where it doesn't flow smoothly, I know the problem usually starts from a couple of pages ago.

9. Besides being a talented author, what are your other hobbies?

Plenty of reading and cycling

10. Last but not least, how did you feel during this interview?

It was really good. The questions are professional, and I really enjoyed answering them.
