Author's Interview by Khushwinder K. Heer

First, before we move forward with our Author's Interview, I would like to start with an introduction.

1. Could you please introduce yourself to us?

Hello, I am Khushwinder K Heer, a 17-year-old girl, living in her head. I am from Jammu and Kashmir and if my name doesn't indicate it already, well I belong to the Sikh community. Fun fact about me: I am a bit different from people of my age I suffer from OCD. One of the perks of it I tell you, it makes me an extremely imaginative person.

2. Congratulations on your book. So what inspired you to write this book?

Thank you so much, well this book is very close to my heart. I am a person who build a home for people easily and those homes get broken and leave me homeless very often. I needed to find a way to build a home in myself and I think I have started accomplishing that by writing this book.

3. What is the book all about?

The book is about a girl and a boy, which I haven't named or specified so that people can imagine themselves going through this journey, both of them are best friends and the girl suffers from anxiety disorder and OCD. One day, the girl finds herself falling for this guy. Slowly they grow from friends to something more.

But slowly things change, he starts to change, and the girl's health worsens because of it. You can see clearly in the book how she suffers.

In the end, it's about how she finds or rather builds a home in herself and starts loving herself.

Overall I will say the book is about loving ourselves first...

4. Why did you choose this genre for your book?

The book can pass for two different genres: romance and self-help

I chose to write in these genres because I know how it feels to go through anxiety and on top of that if someone special leaves, what that can do to me. Hence I wanted my writings to have an impact and empower people to love themselves, and what genre can do that better than these two?

5. How much time did it take to complete this book?

I guess I spent about 6 months writing this book. I had a lot of, and when I say a lot I mean it, writer's block.

6. What makes your Book Special?

I think the raw emotions make my book special but what makes it special and unique to me is that I learnt to love myself a little while writing it. I felt empowered while writing it. One of my favourite chapters includes- Enough and Set Boundaries. These chapters really left an impact on me.

7. When is your second book coming?

I am not planning to write a second book for a while but I can assure you when it comes it will be fantastic because well I am planning to write a fantasy fiction.

8. While writing did you get any writer's block? What is the Tip that you will give others who are facing writer's block?

Yes, of course, I had a lot of writer's block. I faced it many times but you know what helped me most music and books. I read books and many quotes helped me write. Music has always been special to me and I will not be lying if I say that without music I couldn't have finished this book.

I would suggest writing on a regular basis to other writers. It doesn't matter if what you are writing is not up to mark but write, please write. There is no better way to come of writer's block than writing.

9. What are your other hobbies besides being a talented author?

Well, it must be clear by now that I love to write, besides writing I am a passionate reader and my other hobbies include listening to music and to be quite honest painting. I am also intrigued by martial arts.

10. Last but not least, How did you feel, while giving this interview?

Well, not going to lie, this was my first interview, and the experience was really nice, I don't think I will ever be afraid of an interview anymore. It felt great to join you and tell you about myself...
