Author's Interview with Jim Gillespie.
Before we dive into our exciting conversation with today’s remarkable author, let’s start by getting to know the creative mind behind the diverse and captivating stories.
1. Could you please introduce yourself to us?
Hi, my name is Jim , I was born in Scotland in 1961 and moved to England when I was 21 years old. I’ve been married now for over 40 years to my wife, Maggie, and I’m a father and grandfather.
2. Congratulations on your book! What inspired you to write it?
I believe there’s a book in all of us. I never had enough motivation to write a book before, but my cancer journey changed all that. I am a two time cancer survivor and my inspiration is to give hope and inspiration to other cancer sufferers and their immediate families.
3. What is your book about?
It is a book about my cancer journey but also looks at the bigger picture of the cancer industry as a whole. It covers medicine before Big Pharma, the birth of Big Pharma, the role of cancer charities and the ultimate billion pound industry that treating cancer supports.
4. Why did you choose this genre for your book?
I feel angry and frustrated that we are being told that there still isn’t a cure for cancer. I don’t believe that is true and I’ve included information about other cancer sufferers who successfully treated their cancers using alternative medicines or repurposed drugs; despite their oncologists telling them they were at stage 4 cancer and there is nothing more that conventional medicine could do for them. I believe that modern pharmaceutical medicine and the more ancient alternative medicines or protocols should not be mutually exclusive. All cancer patients should have the “right to try” all and any treatments or methods available to them.
5. How long did it take you to complete the book?
About 10 months. I started writing when I was given my prostate cancer diagnosis in Dec 2024 and completed the the book in October 2025, having seen my cancer disappear having used a combination of both conventional NHS treatment and by using my own alternative methods and naturopathic medicines too.
6. What makes your book special?
I believe my book is unique as it not only follows my cancer journey but also gives the reader an overview of the origins of cancer and how it became the multi billion dollar industry that it is today.
7. When can we expect your next book?
I have already written my second book; which is a follow up to this one. You can expect to see it launched in Q2 of 2026.
8. Did you experience writer’s block while writing? What advice would you give to others who face it?
I’ve never experienced it to be honest. I had the opposite problem; I kept finding more and more chapters to write about in my book. That’s why I stopped at 18 chapters and then started writing my second book to give even more insight into killing cancer cells.
9. Besides being a talented author, what are your other hobbies?
I am a family man so love spending my spare time with family and friends. I like to travel and experience other countries lifestyles and cusines.
10. Last but not least, how did you feel during this interview?
As this is my first book it feels very much like “my baby”. Now my book is finished and available to buy I feel proud that it’s now out there for the world to see. I am very proud of it and happy to do interviews like this about it.
