Author's Interview with Timothy Ongeche.

Before we dive into our exciting conversation with today’s remarkable author, let’s start by getting to know the creative mind behind the diverse and captivating stories.

1. Could you please introduce yourself to us?

I’m Timothy Ongeche, a Kenyan author based in Porto.

I write to explore moments of pause, transition, and quiet transformation—blending story with reflection. My work moves between nonfiction, sci-fi, and memoir.

At the heart of it, I believe words can help us slow down, make sense of the in-between, and begin again

2. Congratulations on your book! What inspired you to write it?

Blank Book began as a collection of thoughts pulled from my personal diary — short “what if” reflections I’d write during quiet moments. Over time, I realized these fragments weren’t just mine. They echoed the thoughts, questions, and struggles I’d shared in conversations with other likeminded people.

So I decided to blend them into a book — not to give answers, but to create space for reflection, and to remind readers they’re not alone when the path ahead feels unclear

3. What is your book about?

The book is about those moments when life feels stuck — like you’re staring at a blank page. It blends personal reflections and short pieces that help the reader pause, ask deeper questions, and maybe find a starting point they didn’t see before

4. Why did you choose this genre for your book?

Actually, I didn’t set out to fit a specific genre — the format emerged naturally. Blank Book falls somewhere between creative nonfiction and reflective narrative. It felt like the best way to hold the kind of thoughts and stories that don’t need to be loud, just honest. I wanted it to feel open-ended enough that readers could find themselves between the lines

5. How long did it take you to complete the book?

Since this Book started as a series of short “what if” reflections from my own journals, the material grew slowly over time. But shaping it into a flowing, cohesive experience — something readers could move through with rhythm and meaning — took the most effort. It wasn’t about rushing to finish, but about finding the right way to stitch the pieces together

6. What makes your book special?

I wouldn’t call the book “special” in the traditional sense — but I do think its value lies in its honesty. Blank Book isn’t trying to impress; it’s trying to connect. And in a world full of noise, sometimes a quiet, clear thought can be exactly what someone needs.

Clarity is something most of us are searching for, and this book offers a space to explore that — without pressure, without pretense

7. When can we expect your next book?

My second book, The Pause Principle, is already in motion and will be available soon. But the project I’m currently pouring myself into is a memoir — a deeply personal one that I believe will become my most defining work. It’s still unfolding, but I’m committed to making sure it’s worth the read

8. Did you experience writer’s block while writing? What advice would you give to others who face it?

Yes, I did — especially because this book came from a deeply personal place. Some days, the words flowed easily. Other days, they didn’t come at all. I’ve learned not to fight those quiet moments. My advice is simple: pause, breathe, and let life speak first. Writing isn’t a race — sometimes the silence holds what the sentence couldn’t

9. Besides being a talented author, what are your other hobbies?

I enjoy quiet walks, journaling, and creating things — whether it’s a piece of writing, a digital idea, or even a good cup of tea. I’m always curious, always learning. Stories aren’t just in books — they’re in how we live

10. Last but not least, how did you feel during this interview?

Grateful. These questions helped me reflect in ways I hadn’t paused to do before. Thank you for holding space for writers like me — and for making the process feel genuine
